HMD Global has been releasing a steady stream of Nokia branded smartphones for the past few years. For the most part they are low to mid-range devices that aren’t particularly exciting. However, if you’re still a true Nokia fan at heart and you’re hoping to see something new and exciting, your wish could be granted this year.

According to a report, it seems that Zhang Yucheng, Nokia Mobile Product Manager in China, told users on Weibo that apparently the company will be launching a flagship 5G smartphone later this year. It will be launching on the 11th of November, a date not chosen by coincidence because the date also represents 11/11, also known as Single’s Day in China where massive sales are held.

Unfortunately, apart from the confirmation that a new flagship phone is in the works and that it will feature 5G connectivity, not much else is known about it. The last time the company launched a flagship was with the Nokia 9 PureView, which despite the hype and potential wasn’t as well received as it should.

With the smartphone market space being extremely competitive with a ton of Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo, and OnePlus, hopefully HMD Global will have something up their sleeves that will make people stop and look.
