Lippmann hologram for greater security

Lippmann hologram for greater security

Security hologram stickers have long been in place to prevent fraud from happening on a large scale in credit cards and other sensitive items, but Japan’s Da Nippon Printing and Sony PCL are working towards a new printed hologram that boasts enough images to create a smooth-moving video. Known as the Lippmann hologram technique, it uses a couple of lasers and a series of interference patterns that creates up to 100 different images on a layer of polymer, making it look like a simple video clip. While it might cost higher to incorporate, companies are expected to offset that cost and save a decent amount of dough in the process due to privacy prevention and other fraud. I would very much like to see this on CDs, video games, medicine, and other high-end designer accessories.
