Traffic camera issue tickets to anything that moves

That is happening in Capitola, California. It seems that the motion-sensing mechanism was a little too sensitive in a particular camera, located at a street corner. It has been taking pictures (and sending tickets) of cars that were moving just a little, or turning right at a red light (which is legal in the U.S). Now humans spend countless hours to undo the damage, because up to 60% of the “offenders” are in fact, innocent. “It’s going nuts,” said Capitola Police Chief Richard Ehle.

There is some good in all this: in that particular intersection, accidents are down 60% and the number of violation is down to a quarter of what is was before.
