Remember the Advent Vega tablet that we skimmed over a couple of weeks ago? Well, here’s more word on it – this budget Android-powered tablet will retail for a mere £250, making it more affordable than Apple’s offering (the iPad), while running on Android 2.2 Froyo right out of the box to keep up with the times. As for its specifications, it is functional with a 10.1-inch display while working zippy enough to keep most average users happy. While the battery life has been touted as impressive in initial impressions, some folks might gripe about the lack of 3G connectivity which is so much more convenient compared to looking out for a Wi-Fi hotspot wherever you go. The lack of Android Market support also means you can’t get whatever apps you want on-the-fly, but fret not – Advent says that there will be an Advent marketplace that will deliver around 5,000 apps, although the percentage of useful apps out of that amount remains to be seen. Of course, those who can afford to wait can always look forward to a 3G-enabled version next year with most probably Android 3.0 Gingerbread in tow.
