Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine could very well be realized

A UK campaign is currently underway for Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine to be built. Just how far back do you think we have to turn the clock to get this going? Well, we’re talking about a truck-sized, prototype computer that was first envisaged in 1837, and over 1,600 people have already pledged their money for the Analytical Engine to become reality. It is rather interesting that a complete working model of the steam-powered machine was never constructed despite elements of the engine being around over nearly the last couple of centuries. The campaign intends to see receive donations from 50,000 supporters to kick-start the project. While the completed model won’t be able to cure cancer, it is interesting to see the past being reconstructed in the modern world.
