Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2 Finally Announced!

Rumors of a successor to the GF1 have been going around for some time and now Panasonic has officially announced the Lumix DMC-GF2, touted as Panasonic’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens system camera. Juicy features of this camera include a 12.1 megapixel Live MOS sensor, compatibility with the company’s 3D Lumix G 12.5mm F12 interchangeable lens and a body that is seven percent lighter and nineteen percent smaller than the GF1. A three-inch touchscreen is also available, along with contrast AF system, a freshly designed Touch Q user interface, internal dust reduction system and the ability to capture 1920 x 1080/60i video in AVCHD. The inclusion of an optical viewfinder will be warmly welcomed by purists. The GF2 will be shipping in January in silver, red and black, bundled with a 14mm F2.5 pancake kit lens or a 14-42mm zoom lens. Pricing won’t be announced until mid or late December, so we’ll have to be a little patient again.
