AOC Breeze Sub-$200 8-inch Android Tablet

[CES 2011] AOC, a company that usually makes displays is jumping into the Android Tablet market with a sub-$200 8″ Android Tablet. Sub-$200? Yes, that’s correct, but what’s inside for such a low price? Let’s take a closer look: The display resolution is 800×600 pixels, which is not really “high -resolution” by today’s standards, but that should be just enough (although tight) to browse the web, and read eBooks. It connects to WiFi B/G, has 4GB of internal memory, but can be extended via Micro-SD cards. It connects to a computer via USB, although it won’t charge though the standard 5V USB power. There’s also a DC power input.

The AOC Breeze won’t be the sexiest tablet out there, but at $200, it offers a “price per feature” value that could be interesting for low-demanding applications like eBooks, standard-definition  video, remote control apps, home automation, email etc… Being affordable is definitely a quality that is as important (or more!) than having the fastest processor. Now, we need to see how it performs in the real world.
