Skin Gun to help treat burns

The folks over at the Institute for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh have come up with a “skin gun” that can help burn victims recover from horrible mishaps and accidents that they’ve been through. The skin gun works by spraying a victim’s own stem cells onto his or her damaged skin. At the moment the process is still experimental, but results have been good, with patients healing severe burns within a few days. Despite being called a “gun” the skin gun resembles more of an artist’s airbrush and works in the same way – but instead of spraying paint, it sprays the patient’s adult stem cells in water. This revolutionary technology to skin restoration could go a long way to replacing the current skin healing medication, considering how fast it works. Note: this technology has been around for a couple of years now, and while there have been some advancements, it is still far from being fielded.
