Epic 4G to get Gingerbread?

Most Android-powered smartphones these days are running on Android 2.2 Froyo, with some of them still stuck at Android 2.1 Eclair simply because the hardware manufacturer and carrier have yet to come up with an update, causing further fragmentation issues in the world of Android devices. Of course, this apparently setback has not stopped handset manufacturers from introducing even more devices, which has also gone some way in helping propel Android past iOS in terms of market share.

With word that Samsung’s Epic 4G has just received the Froyo update, you Epic 4G owners out there would be more than well pleased to hear that another sweet piece of news is coming your way – a user agent profile at Sprint’s own website has listed down a newer software version that is, naturally, based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It isn’t confirmed by far that this ED12 build will arrive on retail phones in the immediate future, but it more or less confirms that this will be coming in due time. All you’ve got to do now is exhibit the virtue of patience and you’re good to go.
