Kyocera Echo launched over at Sprint

As promised, Sprint has just launched their dual screen Kyocera Echo smartphone that is powered by Google’s Android operating system, retailing for $199.99 as you tie yourself down to a new two-year service agreement (or an eligible upgrade for current users, of course). Of course, a phone like this will clearly stand out from the rest of the Android handsets that are in the market simply because it boasts two large displays – unlike anything seen before.

With a couple of high-resolution 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen displays that are connected by a durable, patent-pending Super Copper Alloy “pivot hinge,” the Kyocera Echo lets you take advantage of both displays independently, or you can opt for a side-by-side setup or even combine them to form a tablet-like experience with 800 x 960 pixels in a 4.7-inch (diagonal) display. Apart from that, it can be folded up into a pocket-friendly single-screen configuration if you so desire.

With Android 2.2 Froyo as the operating system of choice, the Kyocera Echo will also be accompanied by Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording capability, 1GB of onboard memory, and a microSD memory card slot, this is one high end handset that hopefully, will have a battery life to go along with two displays.
