Huawei Vision to join the premium Android smartphone market

Huawei logoChinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei, known for its budget Android handset, Ideos; has announced its debut into the premium smartphone world. Called Vision, the smartphone is currently still in its prototype stage, but the company expects the device to compete with the big boys in the industry – Samsung, and HTC. The phone will pack a 3.7” display and will ship with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The operating system will have Huawei’s own customized 3D interface (similar to what HTC has for its own devices).

Specs haven’t been revealed, but they’re expected to be along the lines of the current high-end smartphones (dual-core processors, 4G connectivity, front facing camera etc). Huawei also mentioned that the Vision should be upgradable to Icecream Sandwich at the end of 2011. The Huawei Vision is expected to be launched in the second half of 2011 and will cost between $410 (£250) and $657 (£400). Stay tuned for more details.
