Sharp Galapagos tablets to receive Android 2.3 Gingerbread update

Now this is a bitter-sweet piece of news – so you’re one of those who own the Galapagos tablet from Sharp, but it does not come with the latest firmware. What can you do? You can always sit and wait for Sharp to do something about the situation, which is why the Japanese company has just announced the impending availability of Android 2.3 Gingerbread this coming July 25th in Japan, although we would have preferred to see Android 3.0 Honeycomb announced instead. After all, Honeycomb was specially developed to be a tablet-centric device, but at least having Gingerbread is better than being stuck with something older, right?

How else do you think Sharp is able to improve on their Galapagos tablets in terms of hardware and software? Fire away in the comments.
