Kyocera DuraMax announced

The Kyocera DuraMax was just announced yesterday in a Sprint exclusive, where it will offer yet another option for a handset that targets those who work in less than comfortable environments. Yes sir, we’re talking about another rugged phone which comes in a clamshell form factor to help you stay in touch with your colleagues even though a volcano has just erupted, spewing rocks and lava all over the place. The Kyocera DuraMax features Sprint Direct Connect that paves the way for instant communication ala walkie talkies, ensuring it remains in your hand at all times thanks to the non-slip Dura-Grip surface regardless of how much your hands sweat.

Expect the Kyocera DuraMax to meet Military Standard 810G for dust, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, blowing rain, low pressure, solar radiation, salt fog, humidity, and water immersion (up to 30 minutes in one meter of water). Heck, it even sports some creature comforts such as an integrated 3.2-megapixel camera and camcorder, Bluetooth connectivity and a microSD memory card slot .

We’re not too stoked to see it come with a 2.5mm stereo headphone jack though, the much more universal 3.5mm jack would have been very much preferred. [Press Release]
