US Version of Galaxy S3 Likely to Feature Dual-core Qualcomm CPU

Like the HTC One X, it seems that the US variant of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 will only feature a dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset. When I look back at that sentence I must iterate that I use the word “only” very loosely. As previously reported, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is said to contain Samsung’s latest quad-core Exynos processor but chances are that the LTE versions that will make its way to the US will be using the dual-core Qualcomm ones. A Samsung executive who declined to be named was reported in Korea Times as saying, “Samsung plans to release its Galaxy S3 smartphone according to different specification and different markets. For European consumers, it will use 3G and the company’s own quad-core mobile APs, while its own solution that combines LTE, 3G and quad-core mobile APs will be used in the Korean version. But only in the United States, will Samsung use Qualcomm chips.”

This claim gives precedence to a rumor earlier about an alleged source which was close to the company saying that the device will be packing a quad-core processor – as far as the global version of the device is concerned. While it may hit some of you that again, you will not be receiving a quad-core device, please bear in mind that the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 is no slouch and with it you will also be privileged to the blazing speeds offered by the respective carrier’s 4G LTE speeds. However, that said, since this news is unconfirmed as yet; do take it with a pinch of salt. When something official does come along, we will be sure to let you know.
