Just how does it work? Well, this technology works on the premise that folks who indulge in diets that have high content of vegetables will develop a slightly yellow skin discoloration, as carotenoids accumulate in the blood. It is possible to measure these carotenoid levels using a well developed technique known as resonance Raman spectroscopy (RRS). This portable laser will carry a blue argon laser that is hooked up to a flexible fiber optic probe, where it has been fine tuned to a specific frequency where carotenoids resonate most strongly, taking around half a minute to measure those levels. All data will be sent to a connected notebook, where it takes another 30 seconds to process it.
