Verizon stops subsidizing tablets

If you decide to pick up a tablet from Verizon in the future, don’t be alarmed if the price of a tablet costs much more than you thought it should. Verizon won’t be offering its tablets at subsidized prices anymore. In the past, Verizon sold its tablets like its phones – with lower prices attached to two-year contracts. However, it looks like it won’t be the case anymore. Following the launch of Verizon’s new “Share Everything” plans, consumers will now have to pay full-price for their tablets upfront.

Granted, the discounts offered by Verizon haven’t been big enough to warrant 2-year contracts for their tablets – it looks like Verizon consumers will have to save up a bit more when purchasing a tablet in the future. However, the lack of a contract could actually help them save money in the long run. Then again – users could always opt for a WiFi-only tablet in the first place if cost was an issue.
