Sporting a 12.1MP image sensor, Canon boasts that the camera’s auto focus time is 0.17 when shooting at its widest (28mm), and 0.36 at telephoto focal lengths (140mm) which aren’t too bad. Given that its aperture is f/1.8 at the widest, we guess we’re not surprised at its ability to capture images in low-light situations. The G15 will also feature Canon’s new CMOS sensor which can shoot at ISO settings as high as 12,800. The camera will also come with exterior dials which can be used to adjust exposure, aperture and shutter speed, much like a DSLR camera.
Other features of the Canon PowerShot G15 include a hotshoe for accessories such as a flash unit, a 3” LCD display and the ability to capture video at Full HD 1080p resolution. It should be available in October with its pricing subject to the dealer’s discretion. [Press release] [Product page]
