Toshiba Folio 100 gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update (unofficial)

IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany concluded recently, but it was at IFA two years ago when the Toshiba Folio 100 tablet was revealed to the world, being one of Toshiba’s first Android-powered devices that came with a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor and a 10” 1024 x 600 pixel display with Android 2.2 FroYo in tow. Of course, history tells us that the Toshiba Folio 100 failed to live up to its intended potential, which was why it was scrapped eventually without any official software updates from Toshiba to boot.

Good thing an active community of independent developers continued to ensure that the Toshiba Folio 100 is “alive” so to speak, having released an unofficial version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the venerable tablet. Right now, a couple of different builds of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean are available, so choose wisely. Issues are a given, with problems associated with Wi-Fi connectivity, certain display glitches and such, but at least it is up and running! Proceed at your own risk though.
