Google released Android Jelly Bean almost six years ago. The platform has come a very long way since then. It’s now the oldest version of Android that’s still getting Chrome updates but that is set to change soon. A new commit spotted by developers over at XDA reveals that Chrome may soon end support for Jelly Bean.
It is nice to see some of the older mid-range handsets get a fair amount of attention from the manufacturer in terms of its operating system version. Take the Sony Xperia M for example – it was first introduced to the world in 2013 with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in tow, and this time around we have received word that it has just been updated so that it will wear […]
It has not been smooth sailing exactly for Samsung when it comes to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates for the Samsung Galaxy S3 as well as Galaxy S4 as we have reported on their respective situations. Good news then, for those who happen to own the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, as the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is now officially available for the non-LTE version as well as the […]
If there is one major advantage underneath the hood of modern day smartphones, I would like to say that it is this – the fact that one is able to introduce firmware updates into the mix to, in essence, enhance or prolong the lifespan of the handset in the market is a good thing. The recently reviewed Sony Xperia Z1 as well as the larger sized Xperia Z Ultra have […]
It was just yesterday when we brought you word that the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD does seem destined to have its operating system version remain on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for all eternity, as there does not seem to be a newer operating system update coming to this particular smartphone from Motorola. Which was a bummer, really, as the smartphone itself is not exactly something that you would deem […]
If you happen to be in possession of the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD as your regular smartphone of choice, then you might have been looking forward to at least the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system update. Unfortunately, much to your disappointment, it does not seem as though that is ever going to happen as the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD looks set to remain stuck on Android 4.1.2 […]
When it comes to owning a Nexus-branded device, one of the best things about it would be the introduction of a new operating system update each time it hits the market. Well, without a doubt we will see Android 4.4 KitKat arrive with the LG Nexus 5, but here we are with word that the Android 4.3 operating system update will most likely arrive on the Xperia Z1 smartphone this […]
The long-awaited and highly-rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was finally announced during a Samsung press conference at IFA. One millimeter slimmer and lighter than its predecessor the Note 2, the new Samsung phablet features a faster processor, the Snapdragon 800 (for 4G markets only – Exynos for 3G countries), a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, an updated 13 MP camera with the same features as the Galaxy S4, 3 […]
Earlier today, we reported on the new Nexus 7 receiving a firmware update that will reportedly fix issues some users are having with its multi-touch. It looks as though that isn’t the only update Google has planned for the Nexus 7 as well as additional Nexus devices as the company has just posted factory images of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for a good chunk of these devices.
It is well worth the effort to pay attention to the number of users who have jumped aboard the Jelly Bean bandwagon, and by this, I mean the combined efforts of Android 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3, just like how we lump Android 2.3.3 all the way to Android 2.3.7 under the Gingerbread moniker. In fact, the latest figures from the Android Dashboard do point out that the base version of […]
