Crytek’s CEO claims Crysis 3 will be maxing out current-gen consoles

With all the hype about possible next-gen consoles being unveiled in 2013, there are some developers who argue that current-gen consoles still have a lot left in them, while other developers claim that current-gen consoles limit the type of games they want to create. Well if you were thinking about picking up Crysis 3 come 2013, you might be interested to learn that according to Crytek’s CEO, the game will be squeezing every single ounce of power from your console, not even leaving 1% left. In an interview with Videogamer, Cevat Yerli was quoted as saying:

“Crysis 3 is absolutely maxing out the consoles. There is absolutely not even 1 percent left […] No game will ever look technically better than Crysis 3 on these consoles, flat out. Most games are not even anywhere near Crysis 2 technically. I’m not talking about art style–art is subjective–but the pure fact of what we have been cramming in with Crysis 2 on Xbox [360] and PlayStation [3], I’ve yet to see a game do that still today.”

The Crysis franchise has been known for its spectacular graphics and its high system requirements, so to hear that it will even max out current-gen consoles? Well it certainly looks like the game is shaping up to be a pretty awesome one, graphically speaking of course. Crysis 3 is pegged for a release on the 19th of February 2013 on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
