Nintendo Censors Wii U 18+ eShop Content In Europe

The moral guardians over at Nintendo has wielded their scissors at the Wii U eShop, as 18+ content in Europe will also have another barrier – that is, restricted access of just four hours each day. Basically, since last Friday morning, European gamers realized that they were unable to access 18+ eShop content on their Wii U. For example, those who wanted to check out an Assassin’s Creed 3 trailer or purchase ZombiU digitally, the affected Wii U owners were met with the following message: “You cannot view this content. The times during which this content can be viewed have been restricted.”

It does not matter what kind of parental lock settings you have set – this particular “restriction” happens anyway. A Neogaf user who prefers to be known as Panajev2001a, was one of the first to discover the censorship, and basically, he deduced that regardless of the age-lock settings on a Wii U, Wii U owners living in Europe are only able to access 18+ rated eShop content just four hours out of the entire day. Perhaps a more viable solution can be made available to the masses soon.
