Archos FamilyPad 2 Announced

You know that times are hard when you no longer hold a press conference and make an official announcement at a physical venue, but instead, prefer to fall back on the virtual hallways of Facebook. Yup, that is what French company Archos did with the Archos FamilyPad 2, where it intends to continue from where the original FamilyPad left off after that was introduced just in November last year, having hit the market in December.

Hmmm, slightly more than three months after a device is released only to have a “sequel” appear? Either Archos must have stumbled on something so good it cannot wait to come out, or, you get the picture on where I am going with this. The Archos FamilyPad 2 will be a 13.3” tablet that has a 1,280 × 800 resolution, where it will run on a dual-core 1.6GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor with quad-core graphics, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory that can be augmented via a microSD memory card slot, a couple of 2-megapixel cameras, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board.

The Archos FamilyPad 2 has been touted to arrive in Europe “very soon” for €299 a pop, and so far, we do not think that it has any “natural” competitors at that price point.
