Panasonic P51 Android Smartphone Goes Official

panasonic-p51Panasonic as a smartphone manufacturer? Most of us would think of them as rolling out flat screen TVs and other kinds of home appliances instead of a smartphone right? The Japanese company has just introduced their maiden Android-powered smartphone in the world’s second most populous country, Japan, where the Panasonic P51 boasts of a 5” display that carries a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels, runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz processor from MediaTek, and has 1GB RAM.

Other hardware specifications of the Panasonic P51 include an 8-megapixel rear camera that is capable of capturing videos in Full HD, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter, 4GB of internal memory that will surely not be enough in this day and age, which is why we are relieved to see the presence of a microSD memory card slot. Running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the Panasonic P51 should retail for approximately $517 there unlocked after conversion. Would have been nice to see the Eluga P debut there, too.
