A couple of days back the Director of Programming for Xbox Live, Larry Hryb a.k.a Major Nelson, had announced that 2013 Xbox Live Update for Xbox 360 public beta registration had been opened. Xbox Live members from all around the world were invited to participate in the beta process. The update brings improvements in the overall performance as well as the ability to conduct transactions in local currency seeing as how the company will be retiring Microsoft Points later this year. Major Nelson has posted an update on his blog announcing that registrations for the public beta have now been closed due to “overwhelming demand for participation.”

When the beta program was launched, it was said that spots were limited and that signups would be closed once all of them were filled up. To streamline the process, interested Xbox Live members were able to signup for the program directly through their Xbox 360 consoles. Participants were required to sign an NDA or non-disclosure agreement for confidentiality purposes. There’s still hope for people who didn’t get to signup, Major Nelson says that will intimate everyone if they decide to open registrations once again.
