The NVIDIA Shield was expected to be released on June 27 for a lowered retail price of $299, but a day before its official release, NVIDIA had to delay the Shield’s launch to take place some time in July due to “mechanical issues.” As a result of the extra time, NVIDIA is announcing they’re taking their Shield out into the public to get people some real-world experience with the Android device.

NVIDIA’s events started this past weekend and will continue until August 18th on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. NVIDIA will be showing off its Shield at the following participating movie theaters:

Hopefully the NVIDIA Shield’s that will be on display won’t be those who were deemed to have mechanical issues, or else it could make the hands-on experience potential customers will have with the Android device a not-so pleasant one.
