This past week Skype released version 4.0 of its Android app. The update brought a new design that heavily borrowed elements from the Metro UI, making the app quite similar to its Windows Phone counterpart. This update also brought several performance improvements. One of the issues that users found annoying in this update was the sign out process. Users needed to open up their profile and then tap on an overflow button to access the sign out option. Skype says that it has heard all of the complaints and has released yet another update of the app. Above all, it fixes the sign out issue, by letting users sign out through a Menu key option as well as through the main navigation screens.

They’ve also fixed a bug in the app that wasn’t letting users go online or make and receive calls if they had their status set to offline. The update enables video for devices that were able to make video calls in version 3.2 of the app. Last but not the least, dialog translations for Russian, Portuguese, Brazilian and Traditional Chinese have been improved. The updated Skype for Android app is now available for download via Google Play Store.
