Japan’s Xperia Z1 Will Feature IR Blaster And Larger Storage

Back at IFA 2013 in Berlin earlier last month, Sony took the wraps off their brand new smartphone dubbed the Sony Xperia Z1, which was also known by its “Honami” codename and was essentially an upgraded Xperia Z with a more fancy camera. The phone itself sported some pretty impressive hardware, but it looks like over in Japan, Sony will be boosting the phone ever so slightly for its home market. It seems that if you were living in Japan, you would be able to pick up a Sony Xperia Z1 handset for yourself that comes with an IR blaster and Full-Seg/NOTTV support which is more or less the norm for phones in Japan.

However if you’re not a fan of watching too much television, the Xperia Z1 for Japan will also come with upgraded storage and will now see a default of 32GB instead of 16GB for the global version of the Xperia Z1. Granted both devices will play nicely with microSD card slots, allowing users to expand the memory on their smartphones, but at the same time we’re sure that having more memory by default at the start will be much more appreciated by some, instead of having to spend extra money to get a microSD card.
