Nexus 5 Scores 8/10 For Repairability

When it comes to buying a smartphone, there are many factors that one takes into account, with the priority of those factors depending on the user. For some repairability is a major concern because nobody likes paying hundreds of dollars to fix a phone when they can easily just get a new one, right? Well the good news is that if you were planning on picking up the brand new Google Nexus 5, the folks at iFixit have given the device a teardown and have actually rated the phone an 8/10 for repairability, which is pretty awesome, at least compared to the likes of other devices iFixit has rated in the past, with the more recent iPad Air getting a meager 2/10.

In any case the reason behind the Nexus 5’s high scores is due to the fact that the phone does not rely a lot on adhesive, but rather on modular components that are easily replaced. According to their teardown, it would seem that almost all components of the Nexus 5 would be easily replaceable, save for the screen itself which is glued together rather tightly. In any case if you’d like to check out iFixit’s teardown review of the Nexus 5, take a couple of minutes out of your day and check it out in the video above.
