In the previous quarter alone, Verizon added 1.7 million new subscribers, bumping up its total number of subscribers to 102.8 million. Only 5 million of them are using Verizon’s pre-paid service. The carrier now has over 35.1 million postpaid accounts, with each account having an average of 2.8 subscribers. Average revenue per user surged 7.1 percent year over year and now sits at $157.21. The company reported $6.9 billion in net profit, while its wireless revenue increased to $21.1 billion, registering a 22.4 percent year over year gain.
Big Red’s 4G LTE service now covers more than 305 million people in over 500 market in the U.S. In the previous quarter, Verizon activated a record 790,000 tablets, selling 1.9 million tablets throughout 2013. Out of the 70 percent postpaid subscribers using smartphones, 58 percent are LTE enabled, 24.7 million are 3G enabled while 25.5 million basic phones can also be found.
