Verizon Nexus 7 LTE Activation Possible Via New Update

Last year Google unveiled a new model of its popular tablet, the Nexus 7 (2013). When the device was put on sale Google also offered an unlocked LTE model. Customers who picked up the tablet soon after launch found out that Verizon Nexus 7 LTE activation was not possible. It was then said that support will be added soon, but then nothing happened for a few months. Earlier this week Verizon confirmed that it would start selling the Nexus 7 tablet itself, and that existing owners will also be able to activate LTE on their tablets, courtesy of a firmware update.

Today, said firmware update has finally been released. The update brings full support for Verizon LTE on the Nexus 7 (2013). Based on Android 4.4.2, the update lets users add a Verizon line, with a family plan or on its own. Users will also be able to access data from LTE network as well as a local Wi-Fi network simultaneously now. Apart from support for Verizon Nexus 7 LTE activation, this 37MB update doesn’t bring much else. Its rolling out over-the-air and should automatically pop up on a compatible Nexus 7. Verizon itself starts selling the Nexus 7 tablet through its online store and retail locations across the country from today, start from $250 on contract.
