Vodafone Instant Network Mini Delivers Mobile Networks When Disaster Strikes

instant-network-miniDisasters can come upon us in the blink of an eye without us knowing any better. Take volcanic eruptions for instance – that, as well as a tsunami or an earthquake could just happen in a split second without any prior notice, leading to untold loss of lives as well as damage to property. In the event of a natural disaster, setting up a communications line is extremely important, and Vodafone knows this. Which is why the carrier’s philanthropic arm, Vodafone Foundation, has introduced a mobile network in a backpack format which tips the scales at 24-pounds. Known as the Instant Network Mini, it might be small in size, but huge on performance.

The Vodafone Instant Network Mini could be relatively tiny in size, but it is capable of providing a 2G GSM connection that is full well capable of handling thousands of text messages as well as five calls made simultaneously to folks as long as they remain within a 328-foot radius. That is not too wide enough an area of coverage, but if you happen to live in a double storey home, or in an apartment, some form of communication is better than not. Apart from that, it comes equipped with a GSM base transceiver which will rely on satellite connection in order to link up to a host network. [Press Release]
