For Samsung, size does matter. The company has been one of the biggest pushers of large displays in the global smartphone market. It took a chance on the original Galaxy Note and found that it struck a chord with customers, since then the Galaxy Note series has been a cash cow for the company. Building up on its success, Samsung launched the Galaxy Mega lineup to offer a similar experience at a relatively low price. It appears that this particular lineup might have done well in the market too, which is why it is now being reported that the company is working on the next generation Galaxy Mega phones.

The defining feature of Samsung’s Galaxy Mega smartphones is the display. Two models are offered, the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3. Evidently the display sizes are quite large, conventional smartphones tend to hover around 5-5.3 inches these days. It is unclear if Samsung will make changes to the display sizes as well. There’s not much it can do with the Galaxy Mega 6.3, its 6.3-inch display already flies too close to 7-inch tablet category.

Folks at Sammobile have heard that the new Galaxy Mega phone will tout Samsung’s Exynos processor, presumably the hexa-core model found in the Galaxy Note 3 Neo. They’re also expected to run Android 4.4 KitKat straight out the box, which won’t be too surprising. Additional details haven’t been revealed, but if these new phones are destined for the market soon, we can expect the rumor mill to churn something up in the following weeks.
