Verizon subscribers have had to wait for a lot of time to get the Android 4.4 KitKat update on their Galaxy S4. Its actually one of the few carriers in the U.S. that have kept the wraps on this update for this long. Not anymore though. The Verizon Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update has finally been released.

Recently a purported internal memo from Verizon was leaked which claimed that the update will be rolled out on May 2nd. It goes without saying that the memo was totally off the target, we’re still a week away from May 2nd and already reports are coming in from all across the country that Galaxy S4 Kitkat update has indeed been rolled out.

Android 4.4.2 will bring all the bells and whistles we have come to expect from the KitKat update. Subtle user interface improvements are included as well, such as a revamped status bar and a new location menu. Improved security and closed captioning support is included as well.

It is highly likely that Verizon is rolling out this update in stages. This means that it may take a while for this update to become available across all regions. Even if it doesn’t immediately pop up on your device, it surely will in the near future. Alternatively you can manually try to pull the update through the settings application.
