Sony has been gradually rolling out the Android 4.4 to all of its supported devices and it mentioned in the previous release that this update will soon be rolled out for the Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 dual. The company has followed through on this promise today and announced the release of Android 4.4 for Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 dual.

Users can look forward to custom experience that has been built by Sony on top of core Android 4.4 KitKat OS. The update brings performance and stability improvements, basically all the bells and whistles that we have come to expect from KitKat, and then some.

Sony has tweaked the status bar and quick settings bar which it claims are no more intuitive and customisable, no to mention that they have been cleaned up to ensure that users only get the notifications that they really need.

The updated user interface will feel familiar to users who already own a PlayStation 4, it borrows launch animation and live wallpaper from the console for the home and lock screens. Users will also get the ability to move apps from internal memory to external SD card. Sony’s entire native app portfolio has also been updated.

Sony has started rolling out the Android 4.4 update for Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 dual however timing and availability will vary by carrier and region.
