Android 5.0 Rolling Out Unlocked Moto G (2014) Handsets

moto-g-2014-review-2So we know that Motorola will be bringing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to a handful of their devices, but which among them will be receiving it first? You can’t be blamed if you assume that Motorola would be tending to their high-end smartphones first, but it looks like out of all the Motorola devices, the Moto G 2014 edition will be the first of the bunch.

According to reports, it seems that the Android 5.0 update has begun making its way to unlocked Moto G (2014) handsets. If you bought the phone from a carrier, it looks like you will need to wait for carrier approval before getting the update, but for those who bought the device unlocked, you should be able to expect the update soon.

Oddly enough despite the hardware being somewhat identical with nothing major, the 2013 Moto G has not received the update yet, so we guess you guys will just have to wait. The update weighs in around 386.7MB according to those who have received it, so perhaps you’ll want to connect to a WiFi network in order to download it.

In the meantime we can’t be sure when the other Motorola devices promised will receive their update, but hopefully it won’t be too long. The Moto G (2014) joins the ranks of the LG G3 which is also expected to receive its Android 5.0 update this week.
