OnePlus Increases Prices In Europe

It just got more expensive to purchase products from OnePlus in Europe. The company has announced that it is increasing prices for customers in Europe so as to accommodate for the lower value of its currency. OnePlus is going to sell its products at the current price until March 25th before it hikes them up. This is a direct result of the Euro’s reduced value.

OnePlus point towards the fact that many companies have taken similar steps to protect themselves against the currency’s volatility. The company says it didn’t want to do this but since it works with “razor-thin” margins it has become inevitable to take this step.

It even says that based on the current value of the Euro OnePlus is selling devices at a loss in the EU. This is the main reason why prices for customers in Europe are being hiked. New prices will see the 16GB Silk White OnePlus One retail for €299 and the 64GB Sandstone Black version for €349.

OnePlus has confirmed that the change in price only affects the smartphone. All of the accessories that the company sells will continue to be sold at their previous prices.

It is possible that when the OnePlus One’s successor arrives it will cost a bit more in Europe than it does in other markets due to currency volatility. Those who don’t want to pay more for the OnePlus One have until March 25th to pick up the device at its existing price of €269/€299.
