Acer is going to try its luck in the U.S. smartphone market with a Windows Phone 8.1 powered smartphone. It has been confirmed today that the Acer Liquid M220 is going to be released in the United States this June. Even though it comes with Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box, Microsoft confirms that it will most definitely be updated to Windows 10 for Phones when the new software comes out later this year.

This is by no means a high-end flagship, even though that’s what most Windows Phone fans have been looking forward to for a long time.

Acer Liquid M220 is a mid-range device with specs to match. It has a 4-inch 480×800 pixel resolution display, a Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage with microSD card slot. Despite these specs it has full support for Microsoft apps and services like Skype, OneDrive, Office and Cortana.

The device also features a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front facing camera. Weighing only 4.2 ounces the M220 measures 4.9- x 2.5-x .38-inches, with a 1,300mAh battery.

Sold in Mystic Black and Pure White colors, the Acer Liquid M220 Windows Phone 8.1 powered smartphone will be sold through Microsoft Stores and microsoftstore.com in the United States for $79.99 in June.
