It was back in February when carriers in the United States started releasing Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy S5. They most certainly took their time given the fact that Google released Lollipop late last year. The update first made its way to major carriers and now the little guys get to step in the spotlight. U.S. Cellular has released the much awaited Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 today.

Android 5.0.1 Lollipop version G900R4VXU1BOC1 is being rolled out over-the-air by U.S. Cellular to all Galaxy S5 owners on its network. A notification will automatically pop up on the devices when this update becomes available.

This update will bring up Galaxy S5 owners on U.S. Cellular from KitKat to Lollipop, which is the latest iteration of Google’s mobile platform. It brings quite a few new features, improvements and enhancements to the overall system.

There are of course many user interface tweaks in Lollipop as well that breathe new life into the UI, the Material Design elements make it look more fresh and modern.

U.S. Cellular reminds users that they should be connected to a Wi-Fi network to download the update. Since it’s already rolling out it shouldn’t take too long to go live across all regions where U.S. Cellular is available.
