Last year Samsung launched the Galaxy Note Edge alongside the Galaxy Note 4, the only major difference between the two handsets was the former’s single-edge curved display. Those who have been waiting for a successor to the Galaxy Note Edge may want to take note, it’s reported that instead of launching a new model of this handset Samsung is going to replace it with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

As the name suggests the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is a new variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge with a larger dual-edge curved display and slightly different specifications.

As far as the Galaxy Note 5 is concerned it seems that the handset may have a design quite similar to the Galaxy S6 aside from a 5.67 inch Super AMOLED display with 2,560×1,440 pixel resolution.

Both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are said to feature glass backs which raises doubts about removable battery. Samsung no longer offers removable batteries with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, it appears that the company might be giving the same treatment to its Note lineup.

Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is expected to feature a hexacore Snapdragon 808 processor with 32GB onboard storage, 16 megapixel rear camera and a 3,000mAh battery.

The new handsets might be unveiled alongside each other at the IFA 2015 in Berlin this September.
