Amazon To Stop Selling Apple TV, Chromecast And Nexus Player

Amazon is just one of the companies out there that’s trying to hawk its set-top box and streaming media stick against the barrage of similar devices available in the market from other companies. It’s in a unique position though as it also happens to be a massive online retailer where many rival devices are sold, perhaps that’s the reason why it now appears that Amazon is soon going to stop selling Apple TV, Chromecast and Nexus Player.

A purported email sent by Amazon Services to sellers has appeared online, in it the company points out that over the last three years Prime Video has become an important part of its Prime program so it’s important that the streaming media players Amazon sells interact well with the service. “To avoid customer confusion” Amazon is going to implement listing restrictions for Apple TV, Chromecast and Nexus Player.

Effectively immediately sellers will not be able to create new listings for these products and all existing listings will be removed by October 25, the removal will not have any adverse impact on the sellar account but the email advises them that they refrain from relisting these products.

Amazon has not yet commented on this but Bloomberg claims to have verified that this email is authentic, meaning that Amazon really is removing all competition for Fire TV and Fire TV Stick from the largest online retailer.
