16GB Google Nexus 5X: A Good Deal?

Nexus-5X-Ui-07It looks like one particular model of the two recently announced flagship smartphones from Google has more or less picked up a less than stellar rep, simply for the amount of bang for one’s hard earned buck, I suppose. We are talking about the Google Nexus 5X which arrives in 16GB and 32GB flavors. Apparently, the latter is a whole lot more worth it for the amount of cash that you are forking out – $429 a pop, as opposed to the $379 16GB Google Nexus 5X.

What’s the hullabaloo all about, you ask? Well, frankly speaking, you can more or less say the same about the other smartphone models in the market that come in 16GB, 32GB and even 64GB variants – normally the 16GB model is not worth picking up as opposed to the rest, simply because of the amount of space that is far less than what you would get for a nominal bit of extra.

This is due to the fact that available user memory on a smartphone is never the same as that of the advertised internal memory, which means a 16GB model will not deliver full 16GB of storage space, and the same applies as the numbers go up, and this is really a caution for first timers.

The Google Nexus 5X comes with just 10.6GB of free user memory right out of the box, and the lack of a microSD memory card can be said to add further insult to the perceived injury. If you pick up the 32GB Nexus 5X, you would be getting around 24GB of free user memory. Simple mathematics at the end of the day, isn’t it?
