Apple has made a big leap with the iPhone 7 by removing the standard 3.5mm headphone jack that has been present on this handset ever since the first iPhone was released in 2007. The iPhone 7 ships with a new pair of earbuds that feature a Lightning connector which plugs into the only available port on the handset. Apple has completely removed the 3.5mm headphone jack but some believe that it has merely been hidden and that it can be accessed by drilling into the iPhone 7. A prank video has made many people do this to their new iPhones.
The prank video suggests that iPhone 7 users can access the standard 3.5mm headphone jack by simply drilling into the bottom of their new phone. The video has been watched more than ten million times and it has legitimately gone viral on the internet.
It shows a man drilling into the bottom of an iPhone 7 who claims that this reveals a hidden 3.5mm headphone port. The video shows that the iPhone 7 plays music after the hole has been drilled, but the sound comes from the speakers and not the white headphones that have been plugged into the drilled hole because there’s nothing there.
TechRax, the California-based YouTuber, is best known for carrying outrageous experiments on handsets to see if they will survive. He created this video and has since been receiving messages from people who claim to have performed this procedure only to find out that they have been pranked and now have a hole in their new handset. Since they did this voluntarily, it’s not like they can claim a refund from Apple.
