Neonode AirBar Touchscreen Sensor

airbar-macbook-air[CES 2017] So you have just gotten yourself a brand new MacBook Air, and love anything and everything that has to do with that laptop from Cupertino? Well, the lack of a touchscreen display might be something that you wished it came with, and that wish is now fulfilled not through the rubbing of a rusty lamp to summon a genie, but because Neonode has revealed their Airbar for MacBook Air.

The Airbar for MacBook Air is a sleek device which has the ability to introduce instant laptop touchscreen functionality, just like that. Targeting MacBook Air 13.3″ owners, this new AirBar will launch in the US via Amazon.com in an exclusive partnership. Users of the 13.3” MacBook Air will then be able to enjoy touch and gesture functionalities on the laptop’s display without missing a beat.

Remo Behdasht, Senior Vice President of AirBar Devices at Neonode, shared, “We believe the community of devoted MacBook Air users will welcome this new product, as AirBar for MacBook Air will surely enhance the user-experience of an already great product. Our goal for AirBar continues to be expanding its application to more devices, across even more markets.”

The AirBar is attached via magnets to the bottom of the MacBook Air’s display, where it will be plugged via USB in order to make wonders happen. There is no need for any kind of pesky software installation, and neither do you need to set up any kind of extra configuration. The patented zForce AIR technology will emit an invisible light field over a display, and this light field is what senses touch from fingers, gloves and even a paintbrush. Arriving in brushed aluminum to complement the Macbook Air, it will retail for $99 later this coming March 2017.
