NVIDIA’s GeForce Now Game Streaming Expanded To The PC & Mac

geforce-now[CES 2017] Back in 2015, NVIDIA announced a game streaming service called GeForce Now. The service had actually existed before and was known as Grid before being relaunched as GeForce Now, and one of the drawbacks to the service was that it was exclusive to NVIDIA Shield  devices, which we guess was NVIDIA’s way of trying to get more customers.

The good news is that if you kind of wished you had access to the service on your PC, you’re in luck because at CES 2017, NVIDIA announced that GeForce Now would be expanding to cover more devices, and is expected to be made available to gamers on the PC and Mac come March, 2017.

For those unfamiliar with such services, basically game streaming is where pretty much all the heavy lifting is done on another server, which means that even if you have an old PC you should still be able to play the game. This also means that you won’t have to shell out for new PC hardware all the time, although we guess the only downside is that you’ll have to fork out a subscription.

GeForce Now is not priced cheap as it is priced at $25 for 20 hours worth of gaming on a GeForce GTX 1060 machine, or 10 hours on a GTX 1080 machine. We’re not sure if many will find this service to be worth it, but maybe if you’re a casual gamer who can’t see themselves spending a few thousand on a gaming rig, this could be an alternative.
