New ‘Verizon Up’ Rewards Program Makes Things Simpler

Verizon has launched a new and more simple rewards program for its customers which replaces the previous Smart Rewards program. The new program is called “Verizon Up” and it’s a lot different than the old program. Those who were enrolled in Smart Rewards have until November to use the points that they have accumulated so far.

Customers used to earn points for tasks like paying their bill through a checking account with Smart Rewards and signing up for paper-free billing. Verizon Up does things differently and doesn’t require customers to jump through all of those hoops.

With Verizon Up, customers get one credit for every $300 that they spend with Verizon. The amount is cumulative across billing periods. One credit can then be redeemed for one reward. There are some nuances to that, though.

Verizon Up has three main categories of rewards: Earned Rewards, Unexpected Rewards, and Super Tickets. With Earned Rewards, customers get minor incentives like credit towards a future device or discount at a Verizon partner.

Unexpected Rewards are random and don’t require points for redemption. They are only offered on special occasions such as a customer anniversary. Super Tickets will provide tickets for sporting events and concerts. They will be offered limited quantities on a first come first served bases.

All Verizon Up credits expire after 60 days so customers are advised to spend them within two months or they will lose them forever.
