$400 Smart Juice Maker Juicero Shutting Down

Would you have paid $400 for an internet-connected juicer? I probably wouldn’t have, but there were many who did, and the company that was behind this product would be hoping to get many more to pay $400 for Juicero. It seems like the company wasn’t able to sell too many of its proprietary juice machines because Juciero has confirmed that it’s shutting down.

Juicero has confirmed on its website that it’s going to stop selling its juice packets and its Juicero Press device. The final deliveries will be wrapped up by next week. The company is giving all customers a 90 day window to request a refund for their Juicero Press regardless of when they bought it.

The internet-connected juicer was announced in March last year. Not only did it cost $400 but it also required proprietary juice packs. If it was expecting to be the Nespresso of the juice market, the company failed to achieve its aim.

The company had hoped to eventually bring down the price of its juicer to $200 but now it will never get the chance to launch a second-generation model of its juicer.

Many had predicted that the company was doomed to fail due to its value proposition, or lack thereof, for customers and the inevitable has happened. Juicero and all of the dreams behind this product now have to bite the dust.
