Far Cry 5 Becomes Fastest-Selling Game Of The Franchise


Far Cry 5 has turned out to be a hit for Ubisoft. The company announced in a press release today that Far Cry 5 has more than doubled the first week sell-through of its predecessor which makes this game the fastest-selling title in the history of the Far Cry franchise. Ubisoft also mentioned that digital distribution accounted for more than 50 percent of those sales.

Ubisoft reveals in the press release that the title also represents the second biggest launch ever for a Ubisoft game, second only to Tom Clancy’s The Division, as it brought in $310 million in consumer week during its launch week.

A record-breaking number of people are engaging with Far Cry 5 content in the first week. More than 55,000 hours of gameplay have been streamed on Twitch and YouTubes with videos earning more than 117 million views combined. Both are new records for a Ubisoft game in the first week after launch.

Far Cry 5 is already a game of many firsts for Ubisoft. The title is set in the United States which is a first for the franchise and it provides players with total freedom to navigate a deeply twisted world in fictional Hope County, Montana.

“We are humbled by players’ reception of Far Cry 5 and fired up to keep growing and supporting the Far Cry community in the months and years to come,” said the game’s executive producer Dan Hay.
