However the semi-good news is that Google is trying to help and has recently updated its USB-C to 3.5mm adapter where they have made it slightly shorter. The new length of the adapter is at 3.67-inches versus its predecessor which was at 3.8-inches. Granted it’s not a particularly huge change, but for those who hated the previous length, hopefully this makes it more manageable.
Unfortunately the price of the new adapter is also more expensive than its predecessor. Google had previously priced the adapter at $9, but the new model is priced at $12. What’s the deal, Google? As it turns out not only did Google shorten the dongle, but they claim that this updated model will actually reduce plug-in latency with Pixel smartphones, and will also offer up 38% more music playback time compared to the previous model.
In any case if this is an adapter that you need, especially in anticipation of the Pixel 3 which will most likely not see the return of the 3.5mm jack, head on over to Google’s website to get your hands on one.
