Amazon Received Over A Million Pre-Orders For The Echo Auto

Amazon announced the Echo Auto at its hardware event in September last year. It’s a nifty little product that’s designed to bring Alexa to your car. The company has since been taking pre-orders for the device and it turns out that quite a lot of people want Alexa in their cars. Amazon has revealed that it has more than a million pre-orders for this product.

The Echo Auto was initially available on an invite-only basis but that’s set to change now. Amazon has confirmed to TechCrunch that it has started shipping the Echo Auto to customers who pre-ordered it. Alexa VP Steve Rabuchin mentions that some customers even got their Echo Auto in time for Christmas.

He added that there were over a million pre-orders for the device and that the company is just now starting to ship out units. The first set of customers received it in December and it’s continuing to fulfill the pre-orders.

The Echo Auto is essentially a dongle that can be plugged into a car’s infotainment system. It provides drivers with access to Alexa and voice control for hands-free interactions. It has the same eight-mic array as the Echo Show and comes with a dashboard mount. It’s priced at $50 so it’s a relatively affordable option to add a voice assistant to your car.
