How To Save Instagram Stories

Unquestionably, Instagram Stories is now a very popular feature just like Snapchat stories (where it all started). Moreover, with the ability to upload older photos and videos, it has become a bigger trend. So, if you were wondering about the working solutions on how to save Instagram stories on your phone, you’ve reached the right place on the Internet. No matter whether you own an iPhone or an Android device, we have compiled a couple of solutions to help you save Instagram stories to your smartphone.

Fret not, you do not need to jailbreak your iPhone or root your Android device in order to be able to save Instagram stories on your phone.

Note: If a user has a private account, you will not be able to even view their stories unless they accept your request to follow them.

How To Save Instagram Stories to your Android Phone?

To get started saving Instagram stories, you need to download the StorySaver app from the Google Play Store. Once you have it installed, simply log in to your Instagram account and select the story you want to save (as shown in the image above). It will start downloading the Instagram story as a .JPG file or as a video file when you tap on the save option.

How To Save Instagram Stories to your iPhone?

Unfortunately, the App Store no more lists any working application to let you save an Instagram story. But, there are two workarounds you can make use of – if it is really that important to save a particular Instagram story to your phone.

Utilize a Website to Save Instagram Stories (Android & iOS)

You can try visiting StoriesIG.com to download Instagram stories to your phone or your PC. Although, there’s a catch here – you can only be able to download the stories from the public user accounts. Here, you simply visit the site and then type in the username to search. If the username’s correct, it will fetch the profile and the number of stories associated with the account. If that’s the one you were searching for, click on the profile and it will automatically open the story (image/video).

Under the image/video listed, you will observe a “DOWNLOAD” button. Click on it to start downloading the Instagram story to your smartphone or PC.

You should have no problems while downloading a video story to an Android or a PC. However, when downloading a video on an iPhone, you just can’t download the video or save it to the Files directly. You need to copy the URL when you long press the DOWNLOAD text and then download the file using the URL while utilizing an app like Browser and Document Plus for the job (As shown in the image below).

Utilize the Screen Recording Functionality in iOS 11

If you are rocking iOS 11 on your iPhone, you could simply start recording your screen and launch the Instagram app to take a look at the story you want to keep a proof of (or just a memory). Of course, it is not the perfect solution. But, you do not have an option if you want to save an Instagram story of a private account you already follow.

Note: There could be privacy concerns with the extension installed.

To do the same on your PC, make sure that you have logged in to your account on Instagram.com.

If you are already logged in, you need to just download Chrome IG extension and activate it. Once you observe the extension active at the right side of the address bar (where all the extension icons reside) – you need to simply click on it which will then list all the recent stories. Click on the download icon to start downloading the story in the form of ZIP file.

Wrapping Up

We will recommend sticking to the solutions mentioned in this article because there are a lot of crapware at the Play Store and App Store which may claim to do the work but wouldn’t.
